Reginald English has been charged in connection to the death of his 72-year-old mother, Lorena Royster, who was found dead in their Bladensburg home on Wednesday night, authorities announced on Thursday.
Officers from the Bladensburg Police Department were called at approximately 11:10 p.m. on April 3 to the 4100 block of 53rd Place to conduct a welfare check.
Upon arrival, they found Royster inside of an apartment suffering from traumatic injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene and the Prince George's County Police Department assumed control of the investigation, which led them to English.
According to the preliminary investigation, it is believed that English fatally assaulted his mother during a domestic disturbance, though the motive remains under investigation.
English was charged with first- and second-degree murder. No additional details about the investigation were provided by the department.
